Center for Social Media Gives Students Unique Opportunity

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Marist College has launched the Center for Social Media within its Communication and Arts program. It is a multidimensional educational experience that provides new opportunities for students.

The experience includes a center that gives access to analyze social media and analytics. According to a recent story on the college’s homepage, “Marist is one of only six colleges nationally using these Salesforce platforms for educational purposes.”

The Center for Social Media offers workshops, speakers, and technology that are open to the student body. It commenced on September 25 with Marist alumna, and former Assistant Press Secretary to First Lady Michelle Obama, Kelsey Donohue.

“I got an email from Marist saying one of the subcontractors broke something and set the construction back,” said Victoria Conlin, a junior from Connecticut.

Marist’s Habitat for Humanity Chapter Struggles to Find Build Sites

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — The Marist Habitat for Humanity chapter is struggling to find build locations in the recently effected areas from Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

“There are a massive amount of postings on the Collegiate Challenge website in Florida and Texas right now,” said Jack Connly, a junior from Massachusetts. The Collegiate Challenge is a one-week volunteer program through Habitat for Humanity that gives students an opportunity to travel and help build homes for people in need. Continue reading
